About Me

Welcome to Imperfectly Painted!

My name is Steph, and I'm 30 years old. I've been blogging on Imperfectly Painted since April 2010. My love for nail polish began in December 2009 when I spotted mini holiday nail sets at Target. I purchased a set, and I was hooked.

The story behind my blog name is in real life I struggle with perfectionism. I do admit over the years, it's dissipated greatly, but when I started my blog, nail polish was the one area of my life I didn't try to be "perfect" about. I'm confident about my imperfection when it comes to blogging and nails. This blog is a hobby, and a way for me to connect with others who love nail polish. You might not find the most pristine photos or intricate nail art, but you'll find heart. I love sharing nail polish reviews with my readers. I want my readers to see me as a friend and their equal, not as nail polish guru or nail polish authority figure.

Outside nail polish, one of my major interests is history, religion, and culture. I love art history, war history, and cultural studies. When I'm not playing with nail polish you can catch me either reading on those topics or watching documentaries on them. I also am a Netflix junkie, have a little obsession with wax melts, and I consider myself a foodie.

One of my other interests is in volunteering. I have a undying love for cats, and volunteer weekly as a "Kitty Cuddler" and "Kennel Coach" at my local animal shelter the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. I work on socializing shelter kitties, providing enrichment activities and toys for them, and most of all doing my best to get them adopted. I have been given the privilege of being selected as a Lead Volunteer and have the opportunity to train many new volunteers at the shelter.

  1. It's amazing how much I share your interests! I even have two adopted cats that now are taking over my home.
About the Zoya Rayne, you don't like the frosted blue look but from here, it looks really lovely. I guess it won't go well with every color clothing but with white tops, even with jeans, as the summer heats up even more, it should look really pretty on you.

  3. Hello. I was just looking through your blog & saw a comment you left over a year ago (Halloween 2015, I think) about Alice in wonderland... the tv version from the 80's (I was born in 1982) I remember watching it & totally freaked me out... I especially remember being terrified when the baby turned into a pig, & something about the white queen did too. I actually purchased it only about 10 years ago because my friends thought I was crazy. Haha. I can't believe the famous people who were in it... Ringo Starr, Sammy Davis Jr, Carol Channing...
Anyway, that's all... just thought it was cool you've seen that too. :)
    Keep up the great blog!
    Kim.

  4. Hi! Just found your blog while looking for opinions on LA Colors Color Last collection- I bought one (the pale green) for the color, and it actually LASTED on my nails almost a week, so I bought another a couple of days ago..

I'm also a history buff (although usually social history rather than war) and an official Cat Cuddler at Panhandle Animal Shelter! Following you on Facebook now.
